Samsung officially announced its new product similar to MP3/MP4 player or perhaps the same things like an iPod in functionality dubbed Samsung Galaxy Player. This first Samsung's entertainment-centric handset available in 2 versions based on its display size. The 4-inch version named Galaxy Player 4.0, and the 5-inch version dubbed Player 5.0. The shape is broadly similar to the Galaxy series as we know, and only slight differences in specifications, which the Galaxy player is not equipped with 3G or 4G network connectivity. The player relies on Wi-Fi for data connections.
As the multimedia handset, the Galaxy Player provided with enough interesting features. Just look at the 4” and/or 5-inch WVGA Super Clear LCD display, 3.2-MP main camera (Player 5.0 with LED Flash - 4.0 NO FLASH), VGA front-facing sub camera, 8GB memory on-board, microSD card slot for up to 32 GB, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi g/b/n, and a 1,200 mAh battery for Player 4.0 and 2 500mAh, for Player 5.0, stereo speakers, 3.5 mm standard audio jack, FM radio receiver, DLNA port as well running Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on the latest Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS.
A similar device was introduced by Samsung at IFA 2011 a few times ago. It was dubbed by Samsung Galaxy S WiFi. The handset brings 3.6-inch AMOLED display, 3-MP camera and a 1 GHz processor. And a simple name for this device is the "GalaxyS Wi-Fi only version."
Put it simply, this is the Samsung Galaxy without 3G or LTE 4G capability. That's it. To be able to connect to the internet, of course you should be on Wi-Fi enabled areas such as public hotspots, or from the Mi-Fi and other hotspot enabled devices. Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 was pagged at $299.99 and at $269.99 for Player 5.0 without any subsidies. The two are mentioned to be available in the market on Oct 16, 2011.
